February 2024. It has been awhile since I have sent 'round a letter sharing my Art News and so hi — here I am doing some catching up . . .

Florida (Punta Gorda) . . . February 16 – April 12, 2024

LisaT After Work, selected by juror Jean Pederson, is on view in the 14th Biennial National Art Exhibition at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. The painting was an idea I had had for a long time. Inspired by a colleague on a business trip one evening when there she was, looking like a painting, as she relaxed after the day's work, reclining in one of the Lounges in the elegant French Chateau where we were staying. The idea stood the test of time and so I came to paint LisaT After Work. I think it seizes "that something that does not pass away" — even though time has passed — and captures a recognizable, even familiar, moment.

LisaT After Work was part of last fall's Florida Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition in Ocala, Florida where it received the Art Societies Award. It was also in the 2022 Allied Artists of America Associates Online 2022 exhibition.

California (Fallbrook) . . . March 16 – April 14, 2024

My painting, Zinnias, has been juried into the 15th Annual Signature Watermedia International Exhibition by jurors Charles Henry Rouse and Keiko Tanabe. The exhibition runs from March 16 – April 14, 2024 in the Janice Griffiths Gallery at the Fallbrook Art Center. Zinnias are a favorite flower of mine — I made an array of stray Zinnias from my garden in favorite glasses and a painting came together.

Maryland (Annapolis) . . . January 10 – April 8, 2024

Cows Off Honore was accepted for inclusion in the Maryland Federation of Art Lowe House Exhibition. Lowe House is the office building for the Maryland State Delegates in Annapolis, Maryland. I painted Cows Off Honore en plein air, at a small, wild place, not too far from where I live that was then still home to scrub palms and cows.

Florida (Sarasota) . . . January 25 – March 2, 2024

Summer Solstice is included in the Annual Members Exhibition at Art Center Sarasota. It is a handprinted watercolor monotype on a beautiful sheet of Rives Lightweight paper — and is an especial favorite of mine.
